By this point in the season there are few surprises in the starter stats; all the usual suspects are at the top of each report and all that's left is for the race results to gauge our respective picking skills.   But oh, those intangibles.  A flat tire here, a spin or crash there, maybe even a takeout by some driver who fully embraces the 'have at it boys' concept.  And yes, I'm talking about Robby Gordon.

The news that GMP has provided three classic quarter-mile collectibles from back in the day (the Tin Indian Knafel Pontiac Judge, Bob Ford 427 Thunderbolt and the Magic Muffler Fiat fuel altered) as September Super 7 Sweep weekly prizes has sparked a thought or three about drag racing, the NHRA and the sport's health (cough) and future.  This is worth exactly what you are paying.

Congratulations to FTG_TGS for most points in RD#30 of Wind Tunnel's Super 7 Sweep fantasy game.  The gentleman from Lisle, IL picked all five race winners plus one second and one third -place driver.  Pretty good, Dale!

Kyle Busch has put his name at the top of an all new page in the record book after becoming the very first NASCAR racer to win all three touring series races in one weekend.   Move over, Neil Armstrong.  Rowdy Busch has the right stuff too.

A little over two years ago semi-retired machinist and self taught engineer Joel Young of Phoenix, Arizona came up with one crazy idea.  He decided to build a Bonneville race car, powered by a full-race, turbocharged Ford flathead that started life in a Model T.  After achieving his goal, and setting a new class record in 2009 he was seduced by the lure of membership in the 200 mph club.  Mission accomplished.

Former CART team manager, VP Racing Ops for Team Green, two-time Indy 500 wrench and '05-'07 Champ Car competition director Tony Cotman gets nod to write the specs and rules, ride herd on the pricing and oversee the full development of the 2011 Dallara IndyCar.  But no pressure.

Kevin Harvick won the Sunday Sprint Cup race at Michigan with more Fords (six) than Chevy's or Toyota's (five each) in the FMFL top 16 with Edwards, Biffle and Kenseth third, fourth and fifth.  What a nice way for Jack Roush to be greeted on his return to the track.

Word on Pit Road is the curious Chevy decision allowing Kasey Kahne to go to Toyota, the NASCAR 2011 schedule changes and Honda making it official re: an all new HPD turbo V6 for the IndyCar series.  Then there's that Roush Yates Ford ALMS announcement, which brings up one very good suggestion courtesy Miller's Mailbag and Marshall Pruett.
